かつて塩づくりが盛んだった一方、農業に向かない土地条件の中で、人々は成長が早くしなやかな竹を生かし、ものづくりの技術を育んできました。

こうした技術は世代を超えて受け継がれ、現在も竹原の文化の一部として大切にされています。
現在では、竹細工体験や竹筆作りと習字を組み合わせた体験など、竹の技と文化を体感できるプログラムを提供しています。

Takehara is known for its long tradition of bamboo craftsmanship.
While salt production once flourished, the local land was not suitable for farming. As a result, people made use of fast-growing, flexible bamboo and developed refined craft techniques.

These skills have been passed down through generations and remain an important part of Takehara’s cultural identity.
Today, visitors can experience this heritage through hands-on programs such as bamboo craft workshops and bamboo brush making combined with calligraphy experiences.
